Nursery Rhymes

Oh, Pillykin, Willykin, Winky Wee

The words of this early American Rhyme, 'Oh, Pillykin, Willykin, Winky Wee...' are taken from a poem by Laura E. Richards. The poem was read by Theodore Roosevelt (18581919), the 26th President of the United States, to two of his children. The names Punkey Doodle was adopted by his son Quentin and the name Jollapin was adopted by his son Archie!

Nursery Rhyme lyrics, origins and history

Oh, Pillykin, Willykin, Winky Wee!
How does the President take his tea?
He takes it with melons, he takes it with milk,
He takes it with syrup and sassafras silk;
He takes it without and he takes it within,
Oh, Pinky-doodle and Jollapin!
